Been reading John Piper's "The Pleasures of God." - and it is a real underliner for me. My first thought in response to this is "to bring God glory" ... and in so many ways we do that... first and foremost in our response to His salvation. But I am struck in my readings that we are to continue beyond that to bring Him glory in being transformed ... into the likeness of Jesus, and to begin on the path of loving all that He loves. That sounds simple, but at least in the reading I am doing, it is becoming much more profound than I ever gave it credit to being. So that is just my thought... what about yours?
“By faith” must here, as through all Scripture, and all the spiritual life, be the keynote. As you tarry before God, let it be in a deep quiet faith in Him, the Invisible One, who is so near, so holy, so mighty, so loving. In a deep, restful faith too, that all the blessings and powers of the heavenly life are around you, and in you. Just yield yourself in the faith of a perfect trust to the Ever Blessed Holy Trinity to work out all God’s purpose in you. Begin each day thus in fellowship with God, and God will be all in all to you.
